Shanbagappoo is a beautiful flower with a heady and lingering fragrance and Thija uses it as an apt metaphor in this story featuring a young woman and an older couple observing the sudden turn of events in her life. This story is rich with some of Thija’s quintessential and vivid descriptions that stay on with you much like the fragrance of the flower. so, widowers often married the sister/s of their dead wives. I guess what the author was hinting at here is– the young widow could marry her dead husband’s younger brother…..
